A Size and Usage Checklist Before Ordering a Custom Stainless Steel Workbench

Before requesting a custom stainless steel workbench quotation, bring together the dimensions and details of everyday use. For Hong Kong workshops, maintenance teams and business buyers, fitting equipment onto the surface is only one consideration. Operator access, material movement and cleaning space also matter. A clear brief helps suppliers understand the task and gives your purchasing team a consistent basis for comparing proposals.

1. Measure the location and delivery route

Record the available length, depth and height, then mark walls, columns, doorways and fixed equipment on a simple plan. Distinguish the bench dimensions from the total space needed when accessories project beyond it. Allow room for operators, material handling, open drawers, cables and cleaning. Measure lift entrances, door frames and corridor corners along the delivery route, and describe the floor level and unloading arrangements. Add dimension labels to site photographs so the supplier does not have to estimate clearances from images alone.

2. Size the surface around the workflow

Explain whether the bench will support assembly, inspection, packing or repairs, and how many people will use it at once. List the dimensions of equipment, workpieces, tools and materials awaiting processing. Sketch their intended positions, leaving room for handling and operation. For heavier equipment, provide its weight, base dimensions and proposed location so the supplier can assess the design. Discuss bench height in relation to standing or seated work, chair dimensions and knee clearance. Include differing user needs where several employees share the station.

3. Describe the environment and cleaning needs

Choose the specification around the operating environment. Explain any contact with water, oil or cleaning agents, the cleaning method and frequency, and whether joints could trap unwanted residue. If the work involves electronic components, describe your electrostatic discharge requirements, site earthing arrangements and internal acceptance criteria for the supplier to review. Use these operating conditions to discuss material specifications, surface finish and construction details with the supplier.

4. Prepare an accessory checklist

Hop Yuen's stainless steel antistatic workbenches can be fitted with task lighting, power sockets, worktop mats and drawers. Choose accessories to suit the proposed workstation. Specify the area requiring illumination, equipment power requirements, preferred socket positions, mat coverage and intended drawer contents. Separate essential requirements from optional accessories. Ask the quotation to list the selected accessories and dimensions. If the bench must work alongside existing equipment, attach the relevant measurements and connection requirements.
